The plane had previously been escorted by Hungarian warplanes, the official added.
The plane landed at a remote location at Athens International Airport shortly before 4 p.m. GMT and was inspected by a team of deminers, state news agency ANA said.
The identity of the author of the bomb was not immediately specified.
