Great Britain in the very close crosshairs of Iran and Russia, they better watch out, otherwise… we know the rest, because it is written.

RT reports that the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom issued a press release on January 14 in which it denounced London’s confirmation on the same day of its desire to maintain the Ukrainian war effort by supplying kyiv with Challenger 2 tanks.

Fire cannot be extinguished with gasoline

According to Russian diplomacy, this British decision aims to “encourage other less confrontational Western countries to follow this example”.

“The United Kingdom is once again rushing to assert itself and become the first NATO member country in terms of arming kyiv and escalating the conflict”, considers the embassy which explains not to have been surprised by this announcement which comes less than a week before the next meeting, on January 20, of Ukraine’s allies in Ramstein.

It is a German locality which has hosted an eponymous American military base since 1952 and where the members of the Atlantic Alliance have met several times in recent months to organize themselves on the Ukrainian file.

“The British people, already tired of this conflict and waiting for peace, will probably be disappointed: you can’t put out a fire with gasoline.

The delivery of the tanks will in no way bring the end of the hostilities closer, but will intensify them, causing more victims, including among the civilian population”, can we still read in the press release from the Russian embassy.

Indeed, according to Russian diplomacy, London would aim to “prolong the confrontation”, in defiance of “the lives of ordinary Ukrainians”.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that London is involved in the dispute. As for the Challenger 2 tanks, they are unlikely to help the Ukrainian armed forces to turn the situation on the battlefield, but they will become a legitimate big target for Russian weapons,” the embassy concludes.

Zelensky thanks London and welcomes “a good signal to other partners”

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the United Kingdom on Twitter. “The UK’s ever-strong support is now adamant […].

During a conversation with the Prime Minister [britannique] I thanked him for the decisions that will not only strengthen us on the battlefield, but also send the right signal to other partners,” he wrote.

As AFP reports since February 2022, kyiv’s European allies have already delivered nearly 300 modernized Soviet tanks, but never yet Western-made heavy tanks despite repeated requests from Ukraine.

London is one of Ukraine’s main supporters against Russia.

The United Kingdom has already delivered, among other things, multiple rocket launchers and 125 anti-aircraft guns, as well as more than 100,000 munitions since the start of the Russian offensive.

The British announcement comes three days after Poland said it was ready to supply 14 Leopards, German-designed heavy tanks considered to be among the most capable in the world.

Last week, France, Germany and the United States had promised to send armored vehicles carrying infantry or reconnaissance tanks – 40 German Marders, 50 American Bradleys and French AMX-10 RCs.
