The FBI’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, which was largely defunct under President Trump, has been given new life under the Biden administration.
There are signs that the bureau’s activities are not popular among FBI rank-and-file agents after a whistleblower confirmed the bureau tried to force agents to attend an LGBT orientation.
The whistleblower, who was fired after refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine, said the guidance would have included sections telling officers how to properly address transgender members of the public and transgender FBI agents.
According to government data, only 2.2% of FBI employees identify as LGBT.
The FBI left a comments section online for agents to give their thoughts on the guidance, and the section was mostly filled with negative comments, according to the whistleblower.
“The comments section was so negative, and the reviews were so negative of this training, that the [FBI] just deleted it and didn’t tell anyone about it,” he said.
The Daily Caller reports: The FBI canceled a mandatory course on sexual orientation and gender identity in 2021 after agents protested being tested on their knowledge of ‘transgender descriptors’, a suspended FBI agent has said. Daily Caller.
The test, sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), aimed to educate officers about the LGBT community and show them how to be “an ally to their LGBT+ colleagues”, according to documents provided to the Daily Caller .
The 56-page test contains advice on definitions of gender identities and sexual orientations, how to write or speak about a transgender person, how to use the word “queer”, what one can ask an LGBT person and about the use of pronouns.
The FBI originally mandated the test for all of its employees, but it was removed following backlash in the comments section online, suspended FBI agent Kyle Seraphin told The Caller.
