Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday (December 12th) the discovery of a deposit of 150 million net oil reserves on Mount Gabar, in the east of the country, worth around 12 billion dollars.

“We have discovered 150 million barrels of net oil reserves in Mount Gabar. It is one of the top 10 onshore deposit discoveries in 2022. The value of the reserve is around $12 billion,” he said after the cabinet meeting he chaired. in the capital Ankara, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to him, Mount Gabar’s oil reserves are among the 10 most important land discoveries in 2022.
Erdogan also unveiled Turkey’s goal of increasing its daily production to 100,000 barrels in 2023, through more “seismic surveys, drilling and productivity improvement methods”.
