House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca.)is facing a growing number of hard-line Republicans who have publicly vowed not to vote for him for Speaker of the House when Republicans take a majority in January.
Republicans have been trying to get the Speaker of the House of Representatives to address concerns about election integrity, the economy and the need to hold Biden accountable for the influence peddling he is engaging in with his son, Hunter Biden, before promising to vote for him for president, while some flatly refused.
This week, Republican Ralph Norman (R-Sc.) met with McCarthy to discuss his economic program, to see if he would focus on cutting the deficit and public spending.
Not satisfied with this encounter, Norman declared that he would not vote for McCarthy for president.
The Epoch Times Reports: Rep. Ralph Norman (RS.C.) added his name to the growing list of Republican lawmakers who are refusing to elect House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker.
Republicans are poised to retake the House after four years in the minority.
However, the midterm elections were not as resounding a victory as expected for the Republicans. If current numbers hold, Republicans are on course to have 222 House seats in the 118th Congress.
That could pose a problem for McCarthy, who has long hoped to become Speaker of the House. With those numbers, McCarthy will only be able to spare four votes next year if he hopes to secure the top spot in the House.
As other lawmakers line up against McCarthy, Norman added his name to the list of those who say they won’t vote for McCarthy under any circumstances.
Norman told Politico he was a “categorical no” against McCarthy.
