Sputnik reports that, the French President accused Russia of endangering world food security following its decision to suspend participation in the wheat agreement. “Panic in the Kremlin”, quipped Twitter users, pointing out that it is indeed Emmanuel Macron who has “harmed” France for 10 years.
During a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, November 1, Emmanuel Macron denounced Moscow’s “unilateral decision” to suspend its participation in the grain agreement. According to the President of the French Republic, Russia is “again harming food security” on a global scale.
Such a declaration drew the wrath of Twitter users who did not miss the opportunity to make fun of the French leader. Some notably recalled that it was he who had not taken the necessary measures for years to resolve the problems facing French citizens.
Others were keen to point out that it was ridiculous to accuse Vladimir Putin of being the sole cause of the food crisis.
Participation in the suspended agreement
On October 29, Russia announced that it was suspending its participation in the agreement, after a “massive” drone attack targeting the Russian fleet in Crimea. The targeted buildings ensured the security of the grain corridor, according to Moscow.
On November 1, during his meeting with the Turkish leader, Vladimir Putin assured that Russia was always ready to provide large volumes of cereals and fertilizers to African countries.
