A mother pushing a three-month-old baby in a stroller has been shot dead on New York’s Upper East Side.
New York’s illustrious Upper East Side was the scene of an increasingly rare murder on Wednesday night. A few meters from a playground, at 8.23pm, a man shot a mother in the back of the head as she pushed her three-month-old baby in a stroller.
The suspect, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, approached the mother from behind and fired a single shot into the back of her head, before walking away. immediately flee on foot east on 95th Street. The suspect is still at large, but a manhunt is underway.
The baby is, fortunately, unharmed.
The neighborhood where the murder took place, Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is New York’s wealthiest and has one of the lowest homicide rates in the densely populated city. However, New York’s murder rate has risen rapidly over the past two years, and crime has spread to areas that are generally less violent than the rest of the city.
This particular heinous act is believed by many to have been the result of domestic abuse, although investigators are still looking for a link.
Understandably, Democratic Mayor Eric Adams wasted no time in blaming the city for this violent act of ‘guns’, rather than focusing on its pro-crime policies and failure. of prosecutor Alvin Bragg to support the police and the victims.
New York City is currently one of the least safe major metropolitan areas in the United States, not because of guns, but because of soft-on-crime policies and Democratic rule.
