Witnesses help a victim of human trafficking escape from his executioner in broad daylight.
In shocking footage, a victim of human trafficking is seen being beaten and forced into a car in broad daylight outside stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.
Fortunately, witnesses present at the scene intervened, allowing the victim, aged 17, to escape his executioners. The victim was 16 when she was abducted and held and abused for a year before escaping.
The phrase “good Samaritans” does not even describe the bystanders who intervened in this terrible incident and who, in doing so, saved the life of a victim of human trafficking and obtained a 59-year prison sentence for the 29-year-old man who was responsible for it.
The shocking images, which emerged from the trial, can be seen here:
Human trafficking may at first seem like a problem that we are isolated from here in the United States. However, according to State Department estimates, the number of victims of trafficking in the United States is between 14,500 and 17,500 per year.
This is a real problem, with real signs to watch out for, and it won’t always be as obvious as in the video above.
Although the signs are not the same in all cases, the most common are:
Seems constantly under the influence of drugs or alcohol
Serious signs of mental illness such as depression, anxiety, stress and paranoia.
You should also be wary of teenagers who hang out mainly with older or gang-affiliated “friends”, as they may very well be victims of trafficking.
