This is the second time this year. A dozen people had been poisoned on February 25 by liquid MDMA (therefore ecstasy), in the Netherlands and Germany, after having ingested champagne branded Moët & Chandon Ice Imperial. One death had been mourned. The trademark owner then called these facts “criminal case”.

This time, on Friday June 3, it was the Belgian Food Agency (AFSCA) which communicated on Twitter to warn consumers that 2 new batches of 3-liter bottles of champagne with the Moët & Chandon Ice Imperial logo (LAJ7QAB6780004 and LAK5SAA6490005) could contain ecstasy, reported France 3 Regions. A police investigation is again underway.

For its part, the brand has invited everyone to exercise the greatest caution “when consuming beverages whose origin is not clear”. Indeed, these bottles “were sold online and through a few outlets” and not by the official website of the champagne brand, indicated the FASFC. Each of the sites in question is now under investigation.

On the French side, according to BFM TV, no similar problem has been reported. However, if you discover a suspicious bottle, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) invites you to visit on the dedicated site or contact 08 09 54 05 50 to report it.
