How the left is infiltrating local American newsrooms with activist “journalists” funded by Big Tech and radical organizations.
Posted on 7.6.2022
For years, local journalism has been collapsing. Between 2018 and 2020, nearly 6,000 journalist jobs and 300 newspapers disappeared, a long-standing trend that has accelerated with the COVID pandemic. But don’t worry, help is on the way.
Enter Report for Americaan initiative of GroundTruth Project, a non-profit organization. It is a “national service program that places journalists in local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities”. They will pay half the salaries of the “talented” journalists they offer to place in your communities. In addition, they help local news organizations raise the other half of salaries through local donors. They now have reporters in 49 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and Guam. They have placed 300 reporters in 2021 and plan to increase that number to 1,000 in 2024. Hundreds of foundations and donors support this initiative, including Facebook, Google and the Ford Foundation, among others.

Not to be outdone, especially since the Democrats are now in charge, the federal government has also gotten involved.
The Local Journalism Sustainability Act was passed in 2021 to provide a pathway to financial sustainability for local newspapers across the nation through payroll tax credits. In essence, journalists would see “Uncle Sam take over half their salaries” for an amount of more than one billion dollars. Remember that the majority of these newspapers overwhelmingly support the Democrats.
It doesn’t take much imagination to see that the financial lifeline newspapers need comes with strings attached, namely leftist journalists.
And just in time for the next presidential election in 2024!
According Thomas Lifsonco-founder and publisher of American Thinker:
“In my experience, local newspapers, which mostly employ younger and cheaper reporters than the big newspapers, are even more biased than the New York Times or the WaPo. Their heads filled with propaganda in J-schools, youngsters seek attention and maybe even a job offer from the biggest fish in the industry by supporting what they perceive (fairly title) as industry standards: make conservatives look like bad guys and dumb, and make progressives and democrats look like heroes. »
States Newsroom Network says its goal is to provide local communities with free “impactful reporting and commentary to shine a light on state government decision-making and to ensure elected officials are held accountable for the impact of their decisions about communities. They do not disclose the identity of their core donors or philanthropic supporters. They asked ratings agency NewsGuard not to endorse “the work of media outlets that promote conspiracy theories and white nationalism, such as Breitbart, Qactus, Gateway Pundit, Daily Caller, TheBlaze and Fox News.”
In response, NewsGuard CEO Steven Brill said the following:
“We love local journalism, especially hard-hitting journalism. We love philanthropic journalism. What we don’t like are politically funded organizations with an undisclosed agenda and undisclosed funders posing as journalism. I know your reporters are well trained and well intentioned. But their journalism is not “free”. It was bought by people with a political agenda. At a minimum, your journalistic pedigree should push you to insist on revealing who these people are and what their agenda is – i.e. you’re “hard-hitting” as long as the hard blows aren’t to the detriment of the political goals of your funders. In the meantime, your lofty and misleading statements on your “about” pages are the kind of claims that undermine similar mission statements of real local newsrooms that have not been leased to one political side or the other. .
You urged NewsGuard to “defend true journalism”. By identifying politically funded, non-transparent organizations that use misleading mission statements to pass themselves off as real journalism, that’s what we do. You expect those you write about to be honest. So should you. »
At least there is someone in the corporate world who sees fake news for what it is.
The dominant mainstream media promote the notion of ” advocacy journalism“. The notion of “objectivity” having been swept away in the moral realm by “relativism”, it has also taken a plunge in the realm of journalism. Conservatives have long had grievances against biased mainstream mainstream media. So the MSM responded with “yes, we are biased. And we are proud of it! All this to support noble social and political goals. The end justifies the means. »
Thus, leftist non-profit organizations train cadres of young journalists in their service. They learn to create stories faster than a figure skater. They are prepared to tackle what they call journalism ” pink slime » local information. That’s what they call right-wing propaganda. Since determining there was too much ‘pink slime’ in the wake of the 2020 election, it’s been their job to be “muckrakers” modern times and clean it up.
What they don’t seem to understand is that millions of Americans don’t buy into their deceptive tactics. Their version of the truth is to select information that suits their political agendas and ignore information that does not. What happened to the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop and China connection? It’s not the pink slime that buried this story! The blatant fraud and illegality seen at the TCF Center in Detroit during the 2020 election has come under scrutiny from mainstream mainstream media. But groups like Michigan Citizens for Election Integrity do not want to believe that the 2020 election was “the safest in history”. They claim it was, in fact, “the least secure election in history.”
Leftists are notorious for their drift. They have been attacking the foundations of America and Europe for years. They deceived the public by entering through the back door, bit by bit, with tons of money, savvy strategists, teams of technocrats and professional know-how.
This reminds us of Jean-Baptiste Colbert’s statement, which applies to taxes, but could also apply to political indoctrination:
“The art of taxation consists in plucking the goose in such a way as to obtain the greatest possible quantity of feathers, with the least possible whistle. »
Left-leaning journalists may think they can keep the “hissing” of conservative Americans and Europeans under the radar. That era is over. A roar is about to be unleashed in 2024. Stay tuned!
