Disney Channel actor Stoney Westmoreland has been sentenced to prison for child sex crimes after he was caught sending naked photos to a young boy and trying to lure him to his hotel room, which was full of sex toys.
Originally, Westmoreland faced a ten-year prison sentence for seducing a minor on the internet. However, the Hollywood star managed to strike a deal with prosecutors that saw his sentence reduced to just two years.
Instead, the actor, who also starred in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and NCIS, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of using interstate facilities to transmit information about a minor, according to Deadline.
The convicted Disney pedophile is required to submit to a DNA sample and must register as a sex offender. His computers and electronic devices are subjected to random searches and he must report all online accounts he uses to communicate, including email and social media.
As part of the plea agreement, Westmoreland is prohibited from coming into contact with children without adult supervision.
On Dec. 13, 2018, he reportedly met a 13-year-old boy on Grindr – the self-proclaimed “world’s largest social media app for gay, bi, trans and queer people.” »
Westmoreland allegedly shared explicit photos with the child on the teaser app.
However, the Disney actor was actually dealing with a Grindr profile run by a police inspector in Salt Lake City, where the Disney Channel series is filmed.
Westmoreland took a rideshare service to meet the minor and then return him to his hotel room, according to court documents. However, police arrested the Disney Channel actor when he attempted to meet the 13-year-old.
The actor was taken into custody by the Salt Lake City Police Department and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.
“Two fancy sex toys were seized from the hotel room,” reports the Daily Mail. “Police say he ‘admitted to sending nude photos, and that the man he was talking to told him he was 13’.”
Westmoreland’s attorney told TMZ that the actor used Grindr, but believed he was playing a role with an adult online.
Disney Channel fired Westmoreland immediately after his arrest. He had appeared in 38 episodes of “Andi Mack”.
“Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the ‘Andi Mack’ series, was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” said Disney Channel in 2018.
“Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not return to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week. »
CNN described the series “Andi Mack” as a “coming-of-age comedy-drama that follows the adventures of a 13-year-old girl and her college friends.”
Westmoreland has also starred in other television series such as ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘NCIS’ and ‘Scandal’.
